Hearty congratulations to Adele, who won an Oscar last night for her James Bond theme, Skyfall. In recent weeks she has also added a Grammy and a Brit to her huge collection of prestigious gongs.
I was quoted in the Daily Telegraph today about her latest achievements:
“It’s astonishing that after so long out of the limelight, Adele is still picking up top awards every few weeks. The rest of the pop world should take note: true, assured talent always trumps desperation.
“The question is what she will do next. Her fans have been patient in their wait for new material and concerts. What with surgery and motherhood, she’s had plenty of reason to take a break and step outside the spotlight. But sooner or later she will need to prove to the world she is an ambitious artist with a future, not a retired diva who occasionally rolls up at award ceremonies.”
