I’m sure many of you know about the British diver Tom Daley, whose father Rob died last year after battling brain cancer. It was such a tragic loss. Rob and Tom – who I met while researching my biography of Tom – were so very close. Tom has been inspirationally strong since he lost his father.
Tom’s mother Debbie is running the London Marathon next weekend to raise funds for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust. This charity funds scientific and clinical research into child and adult brain tumours, and offers support and information to patients and their carers. Sponsor her here.
Speaking of the Marathon, I thought I’d remind you of my friend Ben Kaye, who is also running next weekend. Ben is raising funds for Nightingale – a care home for older Jewish people. Another friend of mine, Alex Call, is also running. Alex is raising funds for the WH Smiths Trust.
Good luck to all three of them. (Though if they even think of beating my personal best of 4hrs3mins there will be trouble.)
Meanwhile, here’s a photo of Tom and me. I’m the one without the Commonwealth gold medals.
